Searching and Navigating Policy Stack
Policy Stack provides several ways to find what you need: a global search command, sidebar navigation, and contextual help. This article covers each approach.
Global Search
The fastest way to find anything in Policy Stack is the global search command:
- Mac: Press
Cmd + K - Windows / Linux: Press
Ctrl + K
This opens a search overlay where you can type to find:
- Policies — search by policy name, carrier, or policy number
- Deployments — search by deployment name or asset type
- Knowledge Base articles — search help content by topic or keyword
- Navigation pages — jump directly to any page in the app (Dashboard, Policies, Tools, Settings, etc.)
You don't need to type the full name. Partial matches work — typing "mass" will find a policy with MassMutual as the carrier.
How Results Are Organized
Search results are grouped by type. Policies appear first, followed by deployments, then navigation pages, then knowledge base articles. Each result shows a label indicating its type so you can scan quickly.
Click any result (or press Enter with it highlighted) to navigate directly to that item.
Sidebar Navigation
The sidebar is your primary navigation menu and is always accessible:
- Dashboard — your banking system overview with key metrics
- Policies — list of all whole life policies in your household
- Deployments — capital deployment tracking
- Loans — policy loan and loan repayment tracking
- Ledger — banking ledger of all capital events
- Goals — financial targets linked to your banking system
- Tools — calculators and modeling tools (Debt Sequencer, Income Stacker, etc.)
- Knowledge Base — help articles and glossary
- Settings — account, billing, export, and preferences
On desktop, the sidebar remains visible. On smaller screens, it collapses behind the menu button in the top-left corner.
Mobile Navigation
On mobile devices:
- Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner to open the sidebar
- Tap any navigation item to go to that page — the sidebar closes automatically
- The global search shortcut is not available via keyboard on mobile, but you can tap the search icon in the top bar to open the same search overlay
Contextual Help
Throughout Policy Stack, you'll find a help button (displayed as a question mark icon) in the lower corner of the screen. Tapping or clicking this button opens a panel with knowledge base articles relevant to the page you are currently viewing.
For example, if you are on the Policies page, the help panel surfaces articles about adding policies, recording snapshots, and understanding cash value. This contextual filtering saves you from searching manually.
The help button is available on every page and always shows articles matched to your current context.
