Policy Stack is built on a specific philosophy about how to interact with your banking system data. Understanding this philosophy will help you get the most out of the tool.
Tracking, Not Advising
Policy Stack tracks, records, and models your banking system data. It never tells you what to do. Every decision about your banking system is yours.
Policy Stack does not use words like "optimize," "recommend," or "maximize." Instead, it helps you track, record, model, explore, and compare. This distinction matters because your banking system belongs to you — not to a bank, not to an app, and not to an algorithm.
Loan Repayment — Acting as an Honest Banker
When you take a policy loan, you are borrowing against your own cash value as collateral. The cash value continues to earn dividends and grow — this is called uninterrupted compounding. There is no external lender enforcing a repayment schedule.
Policy Stack uses loan repayment language because that is what it is: you are repaying a loan, on your own terms and timeline. The discipline practitioners bring to this — voluntarily repaying their policy loans with the same rigor they would bring to a traditional bank — is sometimes called the Honest Banker approach. You act as both the borrower and the lender, holding yourself to the same standard.
Your System, Your Decisions
In a traditional banking relationship, the bank enforces repayment schedules and penalizes missed payments. In your banking system, there is no enforcer. You control when and how much to repay. You control when to deploy capital and when to hold it.
Because of this, Policy Stack does not use judgmental language:
- There are no warnings about loan balances
- Timelines can be extended without penalty labels
- Status indicators use neutral terms: On Track, Extended, Paused, Achieved
- Financial data is displayed without red or green color coding
The System Mindset
Policy Stack encourages you to view your policies, loans, and deployments as parts of a single banking system rather than isolated financial products. The dashboard brings these pieces together so you can see how capital flows through your system:
- Premiums enter the system through your whole life policies
- Cash value grows through dividends and uninterrupted compounding
- Policy loans deploy capital from the system into external opportunities
- Spread measures the difference between your deployment return and loan rate
- Loan repayment returns capital to the system, completing the cycle
This cycle — fund, grow, deploy, repay — is what makes whole life banking a system rather than a single product.
Data Sources Matter
Every value you see in Policy Stack is labeled with its source:
- Actual — entered by you from carrier statements
- Planned — your recorded future intentions
- Projected — calculated by the system based on your data
- Modeled — illustrative scenarios that carry the disclaimer: Modeled · Illustrative · Not recorded
This transparency helps you distinguish between what has happened and what might happen.
