Overflow Seats
Every advisor tier includes a fixed number of client seats. When you exceed that number, additional seats are available at an overflow rate — billed per seat, per month.
Included Seats by Tier
Each advisor subscription tier includes a baseline seat allowance. This allowance is listed on your advisor billing page and in your subscription details. Seats within your allowance are covered by your base subscription cost with no additional charge.
Your current seat usage and allowance are always visible in the Seats section of your advisor dashboard, along with a count of seated vs. available slots.
What Happens When You Exceed Your Allowance
When you assign a seat that takes you beyond your included count:
- The seat is created immediately — the client gets Builder Pro access right away
- An overflow charge is calculated for the additional seat(s)
- The overflow charge is prorated from the date the seat was created to the end of your current billing cycle (e.g. mid-cycle add = $15 × days remaining ÷ days in cycle)
- On your next billing cycle, overflow seats are charged at the full per-seat monthly rate
Overflow Pricing
Overflow seats are $15/seat/month on Practice 10, Practice 25, and Practice 50. The rate is shown in your billing settings and on the confirmation dialog when you assign a seat that would take you into overflow.
You are shown the projected monthly cost before confirming any seat that triggers overflow billing.
When You Hit Your Cap
If you try to invite a client past your current cap (included + overflow), the invite dialog shows a banner with two routes:
- Add overflow seat ($15/mo per seat, Practice 10+) — opens
/practice/settings/billingwhere you can purchase overflow inline - Manage plan or Upgrade plan — opens the same billing page where you can jump to a higher tier via the Change Plan section
Practice Solo doesn't include overflow purchasing — the cap banner only offers the upgrade route. No more dead-end errors when you reach your cap.
Managing Overflow
If you are consistently in overflow, upgrading your advisor tier may be more cost-effective. Your billing page includes a comparison showing your current overflow spend versus the cost of the next tier.
To reduce overflow, you can revoke seats from clients who no longer need access. See Revoking a Seat for the process.
Revoking a seat mid-cycle does not immediately reduce your bill. The adjustment is applied at the start of the next billing cycle. Plan seat changes with your billing cycle in mind.
Billing Transparency
Your advisor invoice itemizes:
- Base subscription cost
- Included seats (no line item — bundled)
- Overflow seat count and per-seat rate
- Prorated charges for seats added mid-cycle
- Credits for seats removed mid-cycle (applied to next invoice)
You always see exactly what you are being charged for before and after any seat change.
