Auto Log records recurring events into your banking ledger automatically, so your record stays in step with activity that happens outside Policy Stack without re-typing what already happened. Premium Auto Logs are set up from the policy flow. Loan repayment Auto Logs are set up from repayment scheduling surfaces.
What Auto Log Does
If you pay premiums on autopay, Auto Log mirrors that schedule inside Policy Stack. If you create a recurring loan repayment schedule, Auto Log can mirror that repayment schedule as well. Each time a scheduled event is due, it records the event in Policy Stack and prompts you to confirm, so your records stay current without re-entering the same activity by hand.
Auto Log records what already happens on your schedule. It does not move money, change your autopay, submit a repayment, or contact your carrier — it keeps your Policy Stack records in sync with payments that happen outside the app.
What You Are Paying
When you set up an Auto Log, you first choose which part of your premium it records:
| Option | What it records | |---|---| | Base Premium | Just your base premium — the core coverage payment. Records one ledger entry. | | Full scheduled premium | Base coverage plus paid-up additions. Records two ledger entries — a premium payment and a PUA deposit — exactly like logging it by hand. | | PUA Only | Just your paid-up additions. Use this to record a standalone PUA on its own schedule. |
Setting the Schedule
Each Auto Log carries its own amount, frequency, and next payment date. Frequency can be any of:
- Weekly
- Biweekly
- Monthly
- Quarterly
- Semi-Annual
- Annual
A ledger preview shows exactly what will be recorded and how often before you save it.
Where Auto Log Appears
As soon as an Auto Log schedule exists, Policy Stack can use it in forward-looking dashboard views:
- Dashboard Banking Rhythm shows scheduled premium and loan repayment Auto Log items before the due date alongside other recorded dates, and rolls them into its 90-day passive-income and capitalizing strip.
- Actual history takes over once the premium, PUA, or loan repayment has been recorded.
If a policy has a carrier-scheduled premium plus separate PUA Auto Logs, the dashboard reads the current schedules together. It does not rely only on the premium amount captured when the policy was first added.
Where to Set It Up
- In the Add Policy wizard — once you enter your premium and frequency in Step 1, the Set up Auto Log section appears. Choose what you are paying, confirm the amounts and schedule, then add the Auto Log.
- From a policy's detail page — open the policy and use its Auto Log manager to add, edit, or remove an Auto Log at any time. The setup form is identical.
You can stack more than one Auto Log on a policy. For example, set a Full scheduled premium on your monthly draft and a separate PUA Only entry on a different schedule — each records on its own frequency.
Confirming Recorded Payments
When a scheduled payment comes due, Auto Log records the entry and surfaces it for you to confirm. Confirming keeps your banking ledger accurate; if a payment did not happen as scheduled, you can adjust or remove the entry so your record reflects reality.
