Household

A household in Policy Stack represents the personal or family unit within which a whole life banking system operates. It is the top-level container for all data in a user's account — policies, loans, deployments, goals, and the banking ledger all belong to a single household.

The household concept reflects the reality that whole life banking is typically practiced at the family level. A household may include:

• Policies on the primary practitioner's life
• Policies on a spouse's life
• Policies on children's lives
• Deployments funded from any of those policies
• A single banking ledger tracking all capital events across the system

All of these are part of one household and appear on one unified dashboard.

Household vs. Account

Policy Stack uses "household" rather than "account" in contexts describing the banking system as a whole. This is intentional — the term positions the system as a family financial infrastructure rather than a personal investment account.

Your household name is customizable in Settings. It defaults to your display name but can be changed to anything meaningful to you.

Privacy

Each household is private. Only the primary and any active partner can view and modify its data. Connected advisors receive read/write or read-only access to household data when the primary grants a connection. Partner collaboration (Builder Pro) allows sharing access with one additional person.

Partner Collaboration Lifecycle

A household can include at most one active partner at a time. The collaboration moves through four states:

• Pending — invite sent, awaiting acceptance.
• Active — partner accepted; both users share full access.
• Grace — Builder Pro lapsed; partner keeps access for a 30-day window. Reactivating Builder Pro inside the window restores active automatically.
• Removed — grace expired, OR the primary disconnected the partner manually for instant removal with no grace.

Activity-log attribution survives removal — the partner's display name is captured on every entry they touched, so past records always show who did what.
