Collaboration Grace Period
The collaboration grace period is the 30-day window during which a household partner retains full access to a Policy Stack household after the primary's Builder Pro subscription lapses. It is a Policy Stack platform concept and is not the same as the carrier policy grace period.
How It Works
When the primary's Builder Pro lapses (cancel, downgrade to Starter, or 7 days past-due on payment), the partner collaboration transitions from active to grace. The 30-day clock starts.
During the grace window:
- Both users keep full access to the household
- Both users receive an email when the window opens
- The primary receives a reminder before the window closes
- Reactivating Builder Pro inside the window restores
activeautomatically — no data is lost - The primary can still manually disconnect the partner at any point (instant removal, no grace continuation)
When the window expires, the partner is automatically removed and the primary receives a final notification. The partner's authentication record is cleared but the collaboration activity log retains their display name on every entry they recorded.
Not the Same as Policy Grace Period
The carrier policy grace period is the 30–31 day window after a missed policy premium during which the whole life policy stays in force. It is a carrier-side contractual concept governing the policy itself.
The collaboration grace period is a Policy Stack platform concept governing a partner's access to a household. The two can apply simultaneously to a household and they govern unrelated things — never confuse them.
