Setting and Managing Goals
Goals connect your banking system to specific outcomes you want to track — a cash value milestone, a monthly income target, a loan repayment timeline, or a custom objective.
How Goals Work
Goals are targets you set for yourself. Policy Stack tracks your progress toward each goal based on your recorded data. Goals do not automate anything or trigger actions — they give you a structured way to measure your system against the benchmarks that matter to you.
Goal Types
| Type | What It Tracks | Example | |------|---------------|---------| | Capital | A target cash value or system position | "Reach $500,000 total cash value by 2030" | | Cash Flow | A monthly or annual income target | "$5,000/month in deployment income" | | Repayment | A loan repayment milestone | "Repay $100,000 in policy loans this year" |
Creating a Goal
- Navigate to the Goals page from the sidebar
- Click Add Goal
- Choose a goal type (Capital, Cash Flow, or Repayment)
- Set a name, target value, and optional target date
- Add milestone checkpoints if you want to track intermediate progress
- Click Save
Milestones
Each goal supports four milestone checkpoints: 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. As you reach each milestone, check it off to update your progress. Milestones are manual — you mark them when you determine you have reached that point.
Goal Statuses
| Status | Meaning | |--------|---------| | On Track | Active goal, making progress toward the target | | Extended | Past the original target date, still actively pursued | | Achieved | Target reached — congratulations | | Paused | Temporarily set aside | | Archived | No longer actively tracked |
Goals are a Builder Pro feature. Existing goals remain stored if an account returns to Starter.
Viewing and Filtering Goals
The Goals page organizes your goals into three tabs:
- Active — goals in progress or extended
- Achieved — completed goals
- Archived — paused or set-aside goals
Use the type filter dropdown to narrow the view to Capital, Cash Flow, or Repayment goals.
Record Behavior
- Target dates are optional and provide a period for the progress calculation
- Milestones remain manual checkpoints
- Archived goals preserve the recorded goal while removing it from the Active view
- Deleting a goal removes that tracked objective rather than changing any linked policy, loan, or asset record
