Unified Timeline
The client detail page has three tabs: Overview, Timeline, and Banking. The Timeline tab contains the unified timeline — a chronological feed of all recorded interactions and activity associated with that contact. Open a client's detail page and click the Timeline tab to access it. The timeline gives you a complete picture of your relationship history in one scrollable view.
What Appears on the Timeline
The timeline aggregates all interaction types into a single feed:
| Type | Icon | Examples | |------|------|----------| | Call | Phone | Inbound or outbound phone calls | | Text | Message | SMS messages sent or received | | Email | Mail | Email correspondence logged | | Meeting | Calendar | In-person or virtual meetings | | Internal Note | Pencil | Private notes visible only to you and your team |
System events — such as seat invitations, connection requests, policy snapshot updates, and the three disconnect events described below — also appear on the timeline with a neutral system icon. They're read-only: you can't edit or delete them, and they're hidden from the Internal Notes filter.
Disconnect Events
When a client ends their connection with you, a system-authored event is added to their Timeline so you see the reason on next open. There are three flavors, one per disconnect path:
| Trigger | Timeline copy | |---|---| | Client accepted another advisor's invite (the One Advisor at a Time switch path) | Client switched to another advisor — seat returned to your pool. | | Client turned off data-sharing at Settings → Advisor Access | Client revoked data-sharing access — banking data no longer visible. | | Client ended the seat relationship directly | Client disconnected from your seat. |
These rows are quiet by design — no email or in-app notification, just a Timeline entry written from the advisor's perspective. To find them quickly, use the System filter chip described below.
Filter Chips
Above the timeline, a row of filter chips lets you focus on a single interaction type. Click any chip to show only that type; click again to return to the full feed.
Available filters: All, Calls, Texts, Emails, Meetings, Internal Notes, System
The System chip surfaces the disconnect events and other system-authored rows; Internal Notes intentionally excludes them.
When a filter is active, the chip displays the count of matching entries.
Adding an Interaction
Click the Add Entry button at the top of the timeline to open the composer. The composer collects four pieces of information:
- Type — Select from Call, Text, Email, Meeting, or Internal Note
- Direction — Inbound or Outbound (not applicable for Internal Notes)
- Date & Time — Defaults to now; adjust to backfill past interactions
- Content — Free-text description of the interaction
Click Save to add the entry to the timeline. It appears in chronological position immediately.
Use the Smart Paste tab in the composer to paste raw meeting notes, call summaries, or text transcripts. Policy Stack's AI will extract a structured interaction from the unformatted text. See the Smart Paste article for details.
Editing and Deleting Entries
Hover over any timeline entry to reveal the action menu. From there you can:
- Edit — Update the content, type, direction, or date
- Delete — Remove the entry from the timeline (this cannot be undone)
System-generated events cannot be edited or deleted.
Timeline and Follow-ups
When you complete a follow-up from the follow-ups panel, you can optionally log an interaction at the same time. That interaction appears on the timeline just like any manually added entry, keeping your history complete without extra steps.
Search Within Timeline
Use the search field above the filter chips to find entries containing specific text. Search matches against the content of each entry and highlights matching terms in the results.
