Managing Your Subscription
Policy Stack offers two plans: Starter (free) and Builder Pro ($25/month, or $18/month annual). This article explains what each plan includes and how to change your subscription.
Plan Comparison
Starter (Free)
Starter gives you the core tracking tools to get your banking system into Policy Stack:
- 1 policy with unlimited snapshots
- Unlimited policy loans on that policy
- First-policy AI extraction during setup
- 2 live tools: Policy Loan Repayment Modeler and Human Life Value
- AI Assistant in Help Mode — answers conceptual questions about whole life banking. Does not access your personal data.
- 250 MB storage
- Manual snapshots and policy tracking after setup
- Weekly Policy Stack email — a teaser-style report that previews what Builder Pro insights would show from your recorded system
Builder Pro ($25/month, or $18/month annual)
Builder Pro removes the limits and adds AI-powered features:
- Unlimited policies, deployments, goals, and storage
- 5 live strategic tools — Debt Sequencer, Policy Loan Repayment Modeler, Income Stacker, Financing Modeler, and Human Life Value; four additional tools remain marked coming soon
- AI Assistant in Full Mode — reads account data and requires explicit confirmation before any supported record change
- Unlimited AI Insights
- Document extraction — upload carrier statements and have data extracted automatically
- Advanced analytics — full dashboard, capital velocity, system position
- CSV and PDF export — export your data and reports
- Partner Collaboration — invite an advisor or family member to view your account
On the Starter plan, Builder Pro features are visible but locked. Click any locked feature to see what Builder Pro includes and upgrade from that screen.
Starter Weekly Preview
Starter users receive a weekly Policy Stack email. If you have no policy recorded yet, the email shows a starter preview state. If you have started entering data, it previews the kind of Builder Pro insights Policy Stack can generate from a fuller banking-system record.
The email is informational only. It does not access Builder Pro-only data mode, and it does not make recommendations.
How to Upgrade
- Navigate to Settings → Subscription in the sidebar.
- Click "Upgrade to Builder Pro."
- Enter your payment details in the Stripe checkout screen.
- Complete the checkout. Your account upgrades immediately.
After upgrading, all Builder Pro features activate on your existing data. No data migration is needed — your policies and loans are already in place.
How to Manage Your Billing
- Go to Settings → Subscription.
- Click "Manage Billing." This opens your Stripe customer portal.
- Update your payment method, view invoices, or cancel your subscription from the Stripe portal.
Canceling from the Stripe portal ends your Builder Pro access at the end of your current billing period. Your data is not deleted — it remains in Policy Stack. Records outside Starter's one-policy tracking scope remain stored and unlock again when Builder Pro is active.
What Happens to Your Data if You Downgrade
If you cancel Builder Pro and return to Starter:
- All your data remains in Policy Stack and is not deleted.
- You can still view all existing policies, loans, deployments, and goals.
- One policy remains editable with its policy loans. Additional policies and Builder-only asset and goal records remain stored but read-only or locked until Builder Pro is active again.
- AI Insights are no longer generated but existing ones remain visible.
- Document extraction and export features become inaccessible until you resubscribe.
Your account resumes full Builder Pro access the moment you resubscribe.
