The Survivor Guide at Documents → Survivor Guide generates a PDF from what you have already recorded: your policies, the carriers behind them, who to contact, and any instructions you write. It exists for the moment when someone who is not you has to understand your policies in a hurry.
Everything in the guide comes from your recorded data. Policy Stack does not add coverage, values, or advice of its own.
The Survivor Guide is a Builder Pro feature and is not available during a trial. On Starter or in trial, the page sends you to billing instead.
Choose What the Guide Says
Two kinds of control sit side by side, and the difference matters:
- Include decides whether a section appears at all — policy numbers, cash values, death benefits, loan balances, beneficiaries, personal notes, household contacts, advisor information, QR codes, and company contact information.
- Mask keeps a section present but hides the specifics — policy numbers, cash values, death benefits, loan balances, beneficiaries, phone numbers, and email addresses.
Masking is the middle setting. A guide that masks policy numbers still tells your family that a policy exists and which carrier holds it, without printing the number on paper that may sit in a drawer for years.
Contacts and Instructions
Household contacts are edited on the page itself — name, phone, email, and website for each contact. These are the people your family calls first.
Personal instructions is a free-text section that prints in your own words. It is the part of the guide only you can write: where the physical documents are, what you would want done first, who already knows what.
Page Setup and Generating
Set Page size (Letter, Legal, or A4) and Orientation (portrait or landscape), then use Generate PDF.
Generated guides are kept in a history list on the same page, each with a Download action. You can delete an older generated PDF from private storage; the most recent version is protected and cannot be deleted.
Keeping It Current
The guide is a snapshot of your recorded data at the moment you generate it — it does not update itself. Regenerate it after you record a new policy, change beneficiaries, or update household contacts, and replace the copy your family holds.
