Family Network links a Family Coverage map between two separate Policy Stack households — for example, two generations of the same family, each tracking their own policies. It is a Builder Pro capability that extends the read-only tracking of Family Coverage across a household boundary; it does not merge accounts, billing, or records.
What Is Shared
A link shares exactly three things from the granting household's Family Coverage map:
- Everyone on the family map — their names, how they are related to each other, their birth years, and whether they are living. Full birth dates are never shared.
- In-force death benefit on each person's policies, counting only policies that are currently in force, with the date each value was last updated.
- Beneficiary designations on each policy — Primary or Contingent, and their share — including people and trusts named as beneficiaries who are not themselves on the map.
What Stays Private
Cash value, on every policy, is never shared. Policy loans, repayments, and balances stay private, as do snapshot history, premiums, and payment records, and every document and upload. A linked record is view-only: the receiving household cannot edit anything on the map it was shared, and cannot record a loan, snapshot, or update on the other household's behalf.
One Direction Per Link
Sharing runs one way. Seeing a relative's map does not share yours with them. If they would like to see your map as well, they send you their own request, and you decide.
Requesting And Accepting A Link
The household owner sends a request to an email address from a person card, using Link to their Policy Stack account. If that address has no Policy Stack account yet, the request waits; it becomes available to accept as soon as that person signs up.
The household owner on the receiving end — the one being asked to share — reviews exactly what would be shared, the same three categories above shown against their own map, before choosing. Share my family map creates the active link and makes their map's coverage available to the requesting household. Not now shares nothing and leaves the request open until it lapses. Decline this request closes it after a confirmation, and the requesting household sees that it was declined. Only that owner can accept or decline; the household that sent the request cannot withdraw it. An unanswered request lapses 30 days after it was sent. A request waiting on you is listed under Requests to review at the top of Family links, with a Review link to the same screen.
Ending A Link
Any active member of the sharing household can end a link at any time, using Stop sharing — not only the owner who accepted it. Ending a link takes effect immediately: the shared data stops being available to the other household right away.
Viewing The Combined Total
On Family Coverage, the Include linked family switch adds the death benefit totals of every household that currently shares with you to the page's totals. Household only counts just your own recorded coverage; Including linked family adds the shared coverage on top of it. Both totals are already available when the page loads, so switching does not send a new request. A person or coverage row carrying shared data is marked with a LINKED chip and labelled Actual · shared by the sharing household's name.
If a person's coverage is recorded by more than one household, it is counted once for each household that recorded it, and the page names those people under the total.
Every Family Coverage total states which of the two bases it reflects, so a figure is never read without knowing what it covers.
Confirming The Same Person
Two households may record the same real person independently — a shared parent, for instance, tracked on both of their maps. Family Coverage can suggest when a person on a linked map may be the same person as one on your own map. Review a suggestion under People who may be the same person and choose Same person to confirm it, or leave it unconfirmed. Confirming only changes how your own household's view is put together: nothing changes for the household that shared the map, and nothing is written back to their records. A confirmed match can also be undone later.
Who Cannot See A Linked Map
A link is between the two households only. Advisors, team members, and agency seats connected to either household never see the other household's linked data, under any access level. An admin viewing an account as that household sees no linked family.
