Carrier
Carrier is the industry-standard term for the insurance company that issues and services your whole life policy. Policy Stack uses "carrier" throughout — not "company," "provider," or "insurer."
Your carrier:
- Holds and manages the policy's cash value
- Declares annual dividends on participating policies
- Sets the policy loan rate for loans taken against the policy
- Provides your annual statement showing current cash value, loan balances, and death benefit
- Enforces the MEC limits and policy contract terms
In Policy Stack, each policy record includes a carrier name field. This is used for identification only — Policy Stack does not connect directly to carrier systems. You manually enter data from your annual statements as policy snapshots.
