When Your Advisor Sets Up Policies for You
If you worked with a whole life banking advisor before creating your Policy Stack account, they may have prepared your policies ahead of time. When that is the case, a card appears on your Home after you sign up:
"[Advisor name] set up N policies for you" — with an Added by your advisor label and each policy's carrier and approximate coverage amount.
Amounts on the card are rounded. Exact values are added only if you accept.
If you do not see the card, your advisor may not have set up policies for you, or your account may not match their records — you can always connect from Settings → Connections instead.
Your Three Choices
Accept & populate my account The exact policy details your advisor entered — carrier, policy number, premiums, statement history, and any uploaded policy documents — are copied into your account, and your advisor is connected with read/write access. Every detail stays fully editable afterward, and you can change or revoke the advisor's access at any time from Settings → Connections.
Just connect Connects you with your advisor without adding any policy data. You can enter policies yourself later, or your advisor can help once connected.
Not now Dismisses the card without connecting. You can connect with an advisor later from Settings → Connections.
Nothing is added to your account before you choose. The prepared policies live entirely on your advisor's side until you accept, and declining leaves your account exactly as it was.
When the Card Appears
The card is only offered when all of the following are true:
- Your email address is verified
- Your account has no policies of its own yet
- You match exactly one contact at one advisor practice
- There is a prior signal you expected this advisor — for example, they sent you an invite, or you named them during onboarding
If any of these do not hold, you see a plain connection prompt instead, with no policy data attached.
On the Starter Tier
Accepting works on every tier. On the free Starter tier, one policy stays active and any additional policies arrive locked; they unlock on Builder Pro. All the data is preserved either way.
After Accepting
Your policies, their statement history, and any documents your advisor uploaded appear in your account immediately — Home, Banking System, and Documents all reflect them. Changes anyone makes afterward are logged with their source in the Banking Ledger, so it is always clear who recorded what.
